Founded in 1925 by Vassilis Zidianakis, Fimi Beverages is a family business that has grown into a major beverage producer. Located in Agies Paraskies, Heraklion, Crete, Fimi boasts modern equipment for bottling juices and soft drinks, with a capacity of 4.5 tons per day for the production of glass and PET bottles.
The SIDEL SBO10 blow molding machine: an efficient and sustainable solution
When FIMI Beverage decided to upgrade its production line, the SIDEL SBO10 blow molder proved to be the ideal choice. Designed to produce between 6,000 and 8,000 bottles per hour, the machine underwent a complete revamping that allowed FIMI to improve its production efficiency in a sustainable way, achieving two bottle formats: 330 and 1500 ml.
Originally designed in 1994 and operational until 2018, the SIDEL SBO1 blowing machine was ready to undergo BBM’s complete revamping process.
How BBM refurbished the machine
The revamping process of the SBO10 blow molding machine involved several key stages: from the complete maintenance of the machine to thread conversion, through the provision of new molds and the installation of a preform tipper. BBM also took care of the maintenance of the transfer group, oven chain, blowing pistons, cooling system tubes, and shock absorbers. Thanks to our expertise, we were able to restore the full functionality of the machine while ensuring optimized production and greater longevity.
Once the maintenance was completed, the machine was transported to Greece and installed by our technicians in the required formats in about ten days. Despite the “age” of the blowing machine, the experience of our technicians brought it back to life, making it function like new. This project not only allowed FIMI to revolutionize its production with a cost-effective investment, but also represented a sustainable choice thanks to the purchase of a used and refurbished machine.
In fact, purchasing a refurbished blowing machine offers environmental benefits by reducing the demand for resources, minimizing waste, and lowering carbon emissions compared to buying new equipment.
